Wills and Probate
Too many people wait to write wills because they simply don’t want to think about it. But it is so important to put your wishes in a legal document so your family is aware of your requests.
During each stage in life, different concerns should be addressed in a will.
- Who will care for your children if you die?
- Did you know your spouse may not inherit all of your property should you die without a will?
- Specific gifts should be addressed in a will.
Leslie prepares wills that achieve her clients’ wishes. You can rest easier knowing your heirs’ interests in your assets are protected.
She also prepares living wills, which explain to doctors and your family members your instructions regarding which life-sustaining actions should be taken if you are critically ill or injured.
Another vital document is the power of attorney. This gives a trusted family member or friend the authority to handle your financial affairs if you become incapacitated or are otherwise unavailable.
When a person dies, Leslie will help administer the estate to ensure the party’s wishes are carried out, debts are settled, assets are distributed and all appropriate taxes are paid. When probate is required, she will attend to court proceedings that will close the estate. She fully understands probate laws and court requirements and can make this process as easy as possible for surviving family members.
